I think you're right about the similarity between english and chinese ancient language when it comes to verses or poems. I sometimes feel modern chinese is less powerful in expression, less neat and tend to be prolix : e+ M4 Y i: d* t' {/ W* L! X; W& W; M3 S: {- f3 @
